Millet

Indian export quality millet, comprising varieties like pearl millet (bajra), foxtail millet (kangni), finger millet (ragi), and proso millet (varagu), adheres to specific specifications to meet international standards. Typically, these include maintaining moisture content below 12%, limiting foreign matter to less than 2%, and keeping broken kernels below 2%. Millet grains should display uniform color and appearance, free from discoloration or defects. Packaging is usually in polypropylene bags of 25 kg, 50 kg, or as per buyer’s requirement, with approximately 18 to 20 metric tons loaded in a 20-foot container, depending on packaging size and density. These specifications ensure that Indian millet meets requirements for various applications, including human consumption, animal feed, and brewing.
