Elephant yams

Indian elephant foot yams, primarily of the “White Yam” variety, are exported with attention to quality and packaging. These yams, ranging from 2 to 5 kilograms each, are stored and transported at temperatures between 12 to 15 degrees Celsius. Typically harvested when reaching a mature size of 30 to 40 centimeters in length and 15 to 20 centimeters in diameter, they are carefully cleaned and packed in ventilated crates or cartons. This packaging ensures optimal airflow and minimizes damage during transit, maintaining the yams’ freshness and meeting international market standards.
